The VIAVI ONT-600 series of optical network test platforms are multifunctional, multiport, multi-user solutions for fast, flexible testing of optical transport network environments.

All ONT models address the optical and digital testing needs in research and development, system verification testing, production and trouble-shooting. The range of plug-in instrument modules for the ONT series include modules for packet-based services like Ethernet and Fibre Channel (FC) as well as for transport services such as ONT and SDH/SONET, and most services also in combination with jitter/wander.

The ONT-600 platforms consist of a mainframe and plug-in testing modules. The modular design offers high flexibility and each mainframe accommodates several test modules. The modular format allows you to easily perform upgrades as well as exchange application modules between ONT-600 mainframes.

All modules use the same software concept. This enables the use of developed scripts and minimises training time for users. Individual log-ins allow users to share test sets without affecting each other’s measurements. Remote operation is also possible by accessing modules through a browser.

  • Jitter/wander testing at SDH, OTN, and Ethernet rates up to 43G (including 10 G OTL rates)
  • Jitter/wander testing for sychronous Ethernet
  • Module-E covers SDH/OTN/Ethernet/FC rates from 155 M to 11.32 G

 

Mainframe

The ONT-601 is a multi-port test module (MTM). This compact 1-RU stand-alone configuration houses one single MTM, ideal for cost-sensitive application in SVT and manufacturing.

Features include: Remote operation from an external PC via a browser or CLI; LCD conveniently displays IP settings; rack-mountable as well as table-top stackable.

The ONT-603B, ONT-606B and ONT-612B mainframes are ideal for cost-sensitive applications in SVT and manufacturing.

Features include: 3, 6 or 12 slots for application modules; basic controller for fan and temperature control, IP switch; remote operation from an external PC via a browser or CLI; standard clock module (not suitable for jitter/wander applications); each built-in application module has an individual IP address.

The ONT-603D, ONT-606D mainframe models are ideal for stand-alone lab use and for jitter/wander applications.

Features include: 3 (ONT-603) or 6 (ONT-606) slots for application modules; 15″ touch screen; a Linux PC and high accuracy clock module; support for VNC remote operation and stand-alone software (e.g. Wireshark); just one IP address required per mainframe.

The ONT-603H, ONT-606H and ONT-612H mainframes are ideal for cost-sensitive and/or remote controlled jitter/wander applications in SVT and manufacturing.

Features include: 3, 6 or 12 slots for application modules; a Linux PC and high accuracy clock module; support for VNC remote operation and stand-alone software (e.g. Wireshark); connectors for external keyboard, mouse and display; just one IP address required per mainframe.

100/40 GE Module

Supports testing and verification for new high-speed network elements for 40 GE and 100 GE Ethernet, plus evaluation of the physical layer, PCS / MAC layers, and QoS testing at bit rates of 40 GE and 100 GE.

  • CFP-based 40 GE, 100 GE and OTU 3/4 testing
  • Static and dynamic skew
  • Unframed, PCS and Ethernet/Ip testing

40/43G Module

Testing and verification for physical and transport layer, jitter and wander at bit rates of 40/43G with unframed signal and framed signals for SDH/SONET/OTN.

Module-E 10 G and Module-E 10/2.5 G

Addresses the needs of R&D and SVT labs with all of the necessary functionality for testing OTN/LAN/WAN/SDH/SONET/FC networks at various wavelengths.

  • 9.9 to 11.3 G unframed
  • Optional support for 10 G LAN/WAN/FC/SDH/SONET, OTN, and overclocked
  • Optional support for 10 G electrical interfaces
  • Module-E 10/2.5 G adds testing capability for Gigabit Ethernet and SDH/SONET/ONT up to 2.7 G

 

10 G Jitter/Wander Module (for use with Module-E)

  • Adds jitter testing to Module-E 10 G
  • Adds SDH/SONET, 10 GE, and more 10 G jitter testing
  • Jitter at 9.953 G and optional support for 10.313 (10 GE)/10.518/10.709/10.755/11.049/11.095/11.181 G
  • Highly accurate jitter evaluation according to O.172 appendicies VII and VIII
  • Support of 1550 nm or 1550/1310 nm

 

2.5 G Jitter/Wander Module (for use with Module-E)

  • Adds jitter testing to Module-E 10/2.5 G
  • Adds 1.25 G (1 GE) and 2.5/2.7 G SDH/SONET/OTN jitter testing
  • Highly accurate jitter evaluation according to O.172 appendicies VII and VIII
  • Support of 1550 nm or 1550/1310 nm

 

MTM Module

The MTM provides high density 155M to 11.1G testing at layers 1 through 3. Concurrent users can control a broad protocol range including OTN, GigE/10GigE LAN, and SONET/SDH.

  • 155 Mbps to 11.1 G unframed
  • Optional support for 1 GE, 10 G LAN, SDH/SONET, OTN, and overclocked
  • Optional support for 1/2/4/8/10 G FC
  • Supports up to four simultaneous test ports
