Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT) is the key test used by engineers to prove data passes error free across a device or link under test. That basic function is valued regardless of whether the link is 10M or 400G, but when a report indicating pass/fail is required then a more advanced framework is required.
RFC 2544 is the Industry-standard service activation test for single-service Ethernet and IP (i.e. “pipe test”). The test measures and reports key performance indicators and bandwidth profile such as: throughput, latency, packet Jitter, frame loss, and committed burst size (CBS).
Laser 2000 provides field portable and lab focussed testers offering this functionality. Whether you need Ethernet, SDH, OTN, Fibre Channel or even Datacom line rates we have the solution. From GL’s PacketCheck software BERT application to VIAVI Solutions ONA-800 turn up tester we can help put the right tool into your engineer’s hands.
